Curious about the new Canadian Dental Care Plan?

Hello Foundation Dental Community,

We are very pleased to bring you some exciting news regarding new dental benefits in Canada! Recently, the federal government began rolling out the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a program designed to offer coverage for Canadian residents without dental benefits and with a household income below $90,000 annually.

At Foundation Dental, we believe in access to dental care and consider ourselves a community-centered clinic. Regardless of your insurance, we're committed to making dental care affordable and accessible, providing top-notch care with the latest technology. Below, we've highlighted key points to help you better understand the CDCP.

Key Information:
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) will help ease financial barriers to accessing oral health care for eligible Canadian residents. The plan encompasses a comprehensive range of dental services, including routine check-ups, cleanings, and preventive treatments. For an in-depth understanding of the program, kindly refer to the official website: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/dental/dental-care-plan.html

Eligibility Criteria:
The interim Canada Dental Benefit is intended to help lower dental costs for eligible families earning less than $90,000 per year. Parents and guardians may be eligible if they pay for dental care for a child under 12 years old who does not have access to a private dental insurance plan. A thorough overview of eligibility criteria is available on the CRA website here: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/child-family-benefits/dental-benefit/who-apply.html

Application Process:
You can apply directly with the CRA online or by phone. For those eligible and interested in using this program, the CRA provides a seamless application process outlined at How to Apply (https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/child-family-benefits/dental-benefit/how-apply.html).

When will this start?
Dental care under the CDCP has started for:

  • Seniors aged 65 and over

  • Children under the age of 18

  • Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit

The coverage date will be different for each age group, but will eventually be rolled out for all ages.
